I'm a journalism graduate certificate student at Humber Polytechnic and the Editor-in-Chief of Humber Et Cetera, the school's award-winning student newspaper. My work spans politics, community affairs, public safety, and social policy — with a particular focus on stories that affect everyday Torontonians.
Before journalism, I spent 15 years as a Vice President and Broker in residential real estate and property management. Looking back, I realize there are so many commonalities with journalism — deadline discipline, the ability to explain complex information clearly, and a track record of building trust with diverse communities and stakeholders.
And before real estate? I was a performer and improviser with Second City's National Touring Company, where I learned active listening and supported my fellow performers by building on their ideas until we had comedy gold — or crashed and burned into a pit of hellfire. I also had the opportunity to work with some great actors in film, TV, and major national and international commercial campaigns. I'd like to think these experiences have made me a better interviewer.
I'm actively pursuing leads in all forms — from government datasets and FOIs to Reddit tips and gaps in mainstream news reporting, whether in broadcast or print. The story angle is there, and the medium will help shape it. I value newsrooms that promote accuracy, empathy, and storytelling that respects its audience.
If you think we can collaborate, let's talk.
